Learn Mandarin in China
Projects Abroad offers Mandarin Language Courses in both Shanghai and Chengdu. Though English is widely spoken in both cities, by learning Mandarin you’ll be able to further immerse yourself in the fascinating Chinese culture. Making an effort to speak the basics in Mandarin will be greatly appreciated by your colleagues.
Lessons will take place at a local language centre with a qualified language teacher. Depending on your level of skill and when you travel to China, you may have your classes alone with the teacher or be in a small group with two or three others. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been learning Chinese for many years, being immersed in the language every day will help your skills progress quickly.
There are two options when it comes to learning Mandarin in China. You can choose to do an intensive standalone Language Course, where you will receive 15 hours of tuition per week.
After completing your Mandarin course, you can also choose to spend time working on one of our China volunteer projects or internships, such as Business or Teaching, and put your newly acquired language skills to use in a practical working environment.
Alternatively, you can learn Mandarin alongside your regular volunteer placement or internship by signing up for one of our 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour Mandarin language add-on courses. These prices are in addition to your main project price. Please take a look at our China language prices for more information.
