Volunteering Holidays

Travel to a developing country and do valuable volunteer work abroad during a volunteering holiday

Go beyond the typical tourist experience and make your next holiday something exciting and different. On a volunteer holiday with Projects Abroad, you’ll go overseas and become part of ongoing efforts to help where it’s needed most.

We believe in long-term, sustainable solutions, not quick fixes. You can help children learn important early childhood development skills, or work with conservationists to protect endangered animals. If you’re eager to be outdoors, help build schools and houses or coach sports at disadvantaged schools. You can holiday independently on a Flexi Trip or work with a group on a Team Trip.

No matter what you do or where you go, we’ll provide you with a hassle-free experience. We also have dedicated in-country staff to support you whenever you need it while you’re abroad.

When you’re not working, there’s plenty for you to see and do to further enjoy your volunteering holiday. Our in-country staff can give you tips on where to go and what to do over weekends. See local sights, eat your weight in delicious traditional food, and take in the culture and traditions.

Can't find what you're looking for?

We’d be happy to talk about creating a custom project for you during your holiday. Most of our staff have been volunteers themselves, so they’re well placed to answer your questions, big or small.

Why do volunteer work during my holiday?

Volunteer travel during your holiday is a great way to experience something different overseas and give back at the same time. We’re facing a lot of challenges in today’s world, so you can choose to channel your energy into creating positive change while you’re on holiday. Instead of relaxing at a beach resort, for example, you can travel to a black sand beach in Mexico and save endangered sea turtles.

Our projects make it easy for you to take a volunteering holiday at any time throughout the year. Our projects run all year round, no matter how many volunteers we have, so you can join when it suits you.

If you’re keen on a humanitarian holiday, you don’t need any previous experience to participate. We’ll teach you everything you need to know to do the work. You’ll also have the support of local colleagues at your placement.

We also have guidelines in place for working with children, so you don’t have to worry that your volunteer holiday has any negative impact. The same applies to volunteer holidays with animals or wildlife conservation volunteer holidays. We have guidelines in place for working with animals and wildlife, so you’ll be able to work knowing that it’s only benefiting animals, and not harming them.

Supporting you on your volunteering holiday

We understand how stressful volunteer travel can be. That’s why we take a hassle-free approach when it comes to going abroad. Once you’ve applied, our team will:

  • Provide visa advice
  • Arrange accommodation
  • Organise your programme
  • Arrange an airport pickup when you arrive
  • Cover your transportation to and from your placement

All of this is included in your programme fees and there are no hidden costs.

We’re also able to book flights for you. We book changeable tickets, with the shortest, most convenient layovers.
