Volunteer Abroad – How?
By volunteering abroad with Projects Abroad, you will be giving great opportunity to put your time into a meaningful and rewarding volunteer program. We offer a wide range of opportunities and regions to suit your interests, and with more than 350 trained staff in our destinations and over 100 project types, we are one of the leading international volunteer organizations. It is thanks to our four and a half thousand volunteers who work in a developing country every year that we are able to continue functioning. Our prime responsibility is to take care of our volunteers and we take this very seriously.
Volunteer Abroad Opportunities
Through our volunteer abroad programs, your time and efforts will be greatly appreciated and your role will be important. With Projects Abroad, you will provide new benefits and services for poor people living in the countries where you work by improving the social and physical environment around the developing world. You also will provide new opportunities and perhaps a greater vision for other volunteers. In the long run, we sincerely hope that we bring more cross-cultural understanding into the world.
Through our Care projects, you can work in orphanages, care centers, kindergartens, special needs centers and do HIV/AIDS outreach.
Through our Teaching program, you can teach English to adults over the age of 18, or you can teach English to younger students, from 14 to 17. If you have the necessary skills, there is also the opportunity to teach French or IT skills in a few countries.
Through our Conservation and Environment Projects, you can help protect the rainforest in Costa Rica and Peru, sea turtles in Mexico, marine biology in Thailand and the bushveld in South Africa. We also operate a sustainable, organic farm in rural India.
We have a variety of options for coaching high school students through our Sports program.
With our Culture and Community opportunities, you have the chance to learn about Arts and Crafts in Mexico, ancient Khmer culture in Cambodia, Theater and Drama in Romania, Incan architecture and culture in Peru, and traditional nomadic living on the Steppe of Mongolia. We also have projects farming and building houses in rural Ghana.
Through our Archaeology project, you can study Roman ruins in Romania. Based in Deva, a city with 80,000 inhabitants, volunteers will work at a variety of dig sites and museums.
Volunteer Abroad – Why?
Through your summer program, you will not only provide beneficial aid and community service to your community, but you will also help nuture a developing economy. As open and modern volunteer organization, we create local employment wherever we send volunteers. In fact, employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is vital to our success. Local knowledge and grass roots support enable us to channel the skills of our volunteers and interns to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their summer placements and the people they meet while gaining experience in a chosen field. In the age of the global economy, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
