Is a Medicine Internship in Vietnam for Teenagers right for me?
This Medical Internship in Vietnam for Teenagers is perfect if you’re looking for real medical work experience during your education. It is an excellent addition to your CV and can also help you discover whether medicine is the right career path for you.
You’ll gain invaluable experience to discuss in university or job interviews in future. You’ll also learn core medical skills, investigate traditional healing practices, and gain insight into the Vietnamese healthcare system.
The best bit? You don’t need any previous experience to join. This project is designed to help you get the edge you need for your future and find out more about your favourite subject. The focus is entirely on learning and observation.
You’ll be able to ask questions, attend workshops, and see for yourself how the medical system works in Vietnam. You'll even get the chance to learn about traditional medical techniques, like acupuncture, massage, and cupping.
Our medical internships for teens run over fixed dates during school holidays. This means you’ll also travel with a group of people your age, sharing your interests, from all over the world.
What will I be doing during this medical internship in Vietnam?
As a medical intern in Vietnam, you’ll work with doctors and nurses in a real hospital environment. You’ll support the care they provide to local patients and communities, learning directly from them and rotating through several departments.
Here are a few of the tasks you can expect to do during your placement:
- Medical shadowing - Grab the chance to truly “learn on the job” and observe medical professionals in a variety of departments, helping you discover your passion. See how they complete their daily rounds, carry out key tasks, and consult with their patients.
- Core skill development - Learn essential medical skills under the supervision of experienced professionals. This could include measuring vital signs or blood pressure, administering medication, and treating minor wounds.
- Medical outreach - Branch out into communities with limited access to healthcare and assist local staff to conduct health checks. You might help screen locals for common illnesses like diabetes, HIV, or malnutrition, distribute key medical supplies, or provide tests.
- Medical workshops - Participate in workshops to broaden your medical knowledge, delivered by experienced medical professionals. Find out about prevalent local diseases and treatments, learn new medical skills, and discover traditional healthcare practices like massage, acupuncture, and cupping.
- Awareness campaigns - Travel to schools and care centres to deliver educational presentations. You might cover personal hygiene, tooth brushing, nutrition, and healthy choices. This gives children the knowledge they need to prevent diseases and live healthier lives.
During your medical internship in Vietnam, you will observe and assist medical professionals in real medical settings. You will also enjoy an immersive experience in a fascinating new culture, eating delicious food and meeting amazing people.
